Homing in on Holmes Chapel

In a recent poll of Cheshire residents Holmes Chapel was voted the best place to live in the county.  An impressive accolade for the unassuming Cheshire village which beat off competition from Chester, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge to scoop the top position.

The Cheshire village is never far from the headlines thanks to its connection with British heartthrob Harry Styles but what is it about Holmes Chapel, that makes it such a firm favourite with residents?

Our Homes Chapel branch manager, Steph Danford gives us the inside track…

What stands out most about Holmes Chapel is that although it is a large village it has an incredibly active and positive community feel.  The Parish Council and various community groups are very forward thinking and put great effort into bringing residents of all ages together at key times of the year. The village’s annual Christmas Market is a huge community celebration, and planning is underway for an unforgettable Coronation Bank Holiday weekend next month, when London Road will be closed for the festivities.

A vibrant village centre

Holmes Chapel village centre is vibrant and is proud to combine recognised brands with an array of independent shops and suppliers including a fantastic butcher, bakery, ice cream parlour and homeware/ gift shop.  We have traditional pubs plus independent restaurants, wine bars, cafes and takeaways.  The large library is also a popular village hub, hosting a range of activities and clubs for residents of all ages.  Just last month it welcomed over 400 local primary children to celebrate World Book Day.  It was a fantastic endeavour and yet another demonstration of how Holmes Chapel goes above and beyond.

A community for all ages

Holmes Chapel has a diverse range of residents, including first time buyers and the elderly but it is perhaps families who are currently most drawn to locate here.  With two OFSTEAD Excellent primary schools, a very highly regarded High School plus numerous nursery and preschool opportunities the village can help youngsters thrive right through to university.  Education aside, it’s a wonderful village to grow up in, safe enough for children to be given some freedom and with plenty to do from sports clubs, skateparks and playgrounds to breakfast waffles and Sunday dinners in the array of popular eateries.

Rural living with city connections

The village also has great commuter links with direct access onto the M6 and its own train station with regular services to Manchester and Crewe.  If you work from home, even better, we have fantastic walking routes through and beyond the village, plus the Dane Meadow, 7 hectares of unspoilt countryside including ponds and a wildflower meadow, accessed just off the high street.

Homes for all ages and stages

Looking at property availability, we are lucky in Holmes Chapel to be able to cater for all circumstances.  Properties include apartments, bungalows and traditional house types, plus a selection of retirement homes.  Investing here is a sound long term choice.  Property values are rising steadily and we always have clients waiting to snap up available homes.

My message to those looking to move to Holmes Chapel either this summer or ready for the September school term, is to pop in and see us now.  There is a lot of competition to secure properties to both rent and buy and our team can provide the expert advice you’ll need to get you moving quickly.  Our door is open Monday-Saturday so please pop in, explore what Homes Chapel has to offer and discover the life you could be living here.
